Summer Bucket List

Whew! How is it possible that Memorial Day is just next week and we’re only a week and a half away from June? It seems like this year is flying by at warp speed, so this summer maybe we should make an effort to enjoy the little things. In the hustle and bustle of our busy schedules, it is easy to let the summer slip away and all too soon we’ll be getting back into a school routine. You don’t need to go on a fancy vacation to make it a memorable summer, you can be a tourist in your own area. There are so many great places to visit right here in our own backyard (4th Street Elevator, Mathias Hamm House, Crystal Lake Caves, 61 Drive in, Dubuque and All that Jazz, Maquoketa Caves, Dubuque River Museum, Field of Dreams we seriously could go on and on). Here are some suggestions for a summer bucket list, most of them are inexpensive, and it is much more about the time spent with family and friends than the money spent.

  • Go to a drive in movie
  • Blow bubbles
  • Draw with sidewalk chalk
  • Go to a baseball and/or softball game.
  • Catch fireflies
  • Play miniature golf
  • Go fishing
  • Go camping
  • Go hiking
  • Eat ice cream for dinner
  • Play in the rain
  • Have a bonfire
  • Have a picnic
  • Listen to an outdoor concert
  • Read a book in a hammock
  • Play a board game
  • Play kickball
  • Find a new park to explore

Every summer has a story, what will yours be?
